Google's new smartphone, the Google Pixel 7, is powered by ST54K to handle control and security features for contactless NFC (Near Field Communication), stmicroelectronics revealed on November 17.
The ST54K chip integrates a single chip NFC controller and a certified security unit, which can effectively save space for Oems and simplify phone design, so it is favored by Google mobile phone designers.
The ST54K incorporates proprietary technology to enhance the sensitivity of NFC reception, ensuring high reliability of communication connections, providing an outstanding contactless user experience,
and ensuring that data exchange remains highly secure.
In addition, ST54K integrates Thales mobile security operating system to further meet the needs of Google Pixel 7 phones. The operating system meets the highest security industry standards and supports
the integration of embedded SIM (eSIM) cards and other secure NFC applications into the same ST54K security cell.
Marie-France Li-Sai Florentin, Vice President, Microcontroller and Digital IC Products Division (MDG) and General Manager, Security Microcontroller Division, stmicroelectronics, said: "Google chose ST54K
because of its superior performance, low power consumption, and security at the highest security level CC EAL5+, ensuring the best user experience and contactless transaction protection."
Emmanuel Unguran, Senior Vice President of Thales Mobile Connectivity Solutions, added: "We have combined ST's ST54K with Thales' secure operating system and personalisation capabilities to create a
certified cutting edge solution that helps smartphones support a diverse range of digital services. The solution includes eSIM, which allows instant connectivity, and digital wallet services such as virtual bus
passes and digital car keys.
The Google Pixel 7 went on sale on October 7. ST54K single chip NFC controller and security unit solution, combined with Thales security operating system, is a mature solution representative of the current
Android mobile phone to achieve reliable high-performance contactless function, widely applicable to a variety of Oems and application scenarios.
