A new report from South Korea claims that the development of a smart ring that can be worn on the finger is being accelerated to track the user's health.

As several patents indicate, Apple has been flirting with the idea of a wearable ring device for years, but as Samsung prepares to bring its own product to
market, the time may be ripe for Apple to follow suit. According to DigiTimes, Apple has been closely monitoring the market.

Apple is said to be seriously weighing the idea as a viable expansion of its wearable lineup, and is increasingly filing patents related to NFC-enabled finger
wearables while coordinating launch timing.
